I woke up this morning to a sunny, breezy, chilly day. I had no get up and go, and I was very compliant to sit and get a slow start to the day. My husband had his shower and eaten his breakfast and was ready to go and walk at the mall for exercise. I was still happy to sit on the sofa and flip through my iPad or talk on the phone to a friend, just to delay the start of my day. There was a feeling in my heart of contentment and peace. In my earlier years I would have been about my business of running the household be it cleaning, picking up after the family, washing clothes or planning the family dinner. Not today.
Today I appreciate the calm morning to say and share special thoughts with my Savior. I count my many blessings and pray for others who need his blessings. It’s a wonderful feeling to know that my Father is always with me no matter what circumstances may come my way. Sometimes I don’t call out to him as soon as I should and sometimes, I react in a way that would not be pleasing to him. But what the bottom line is that I know he loves me and will never leave. Not in bad days and not in good days. The important step we have to take as followers of Christ is to try and spread the good news to others so that they can also experience “the peace that passes all understanding.”
Lord, we who call you Father, cannot imagine how it would be not to have you helping to guide our lives. May we be ever mindful that others need you as well. An old saying expresses this thought well: “Be careful of the life you lead, it may be the only Bible someone will read.” Amen.
